About us
Welcome to the Sussex Resilience Forum (SRF) website.
This is the culmination of a lot of hard work by all our partners in the Emergency Services, Health, Local Authorities, Government Agencies and Departments, and the Voluntary Sector. We work together to make Sussex a safer place for the whole community under the remit of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
The website has been designed with you, the public, in mind. Plain English is the aim but we recognise that some specialist language is required. There is a full explanation of all such terms in our Frequently Asked Questions and Glossary.
Sussex is a unique county steeped in history but with a view to the future.
As the Chair (Sussex Police, Deputy Chief Constable Giles
York)
and Vice Chair (West Sussex, Chief Fire
Officer Max Hood) of the SRF we ensure direction so that emergency
plans for many risks are prioritised, written, exercised and
regularly reviewed. We have compiled a comprehensive set of aims and objectives.

In recent years, the county has faced several difficult issues such as severe weather, swine flu, and marine pollution. We have come through all these incidents and identified lessons that can enhance our response in future.
Looking ahead we have the challenges and opportunities of London 2012 as well as working with reduced budgets.
We are all committed to the greater resilience of Sussex and are happy to receive any feedback you may have. This is a dynamic process and the site will be regularly updated particularly when an incident is 'live'.
